8. Arie Wilhelmus SCHARFF II⁴ was born on 8 February 1844 in Schaarloos (now Charlois), IJselmonde, Netherlands. He appeared in the census in 1850 in Charlois, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands. He immigrated on 10 March 1856 to Pella, Marion County, Iowa, USA. Arie Cit Issued ticket for Smoking Pipe with illegal cap on 5 February 1870 . He was buried in 1902 in New Sharon, Mahaska County, Iowa, USA. He died on 12 December 1902 at the age of 58 in Madison Twp, Hancock County, Iowa, USA. Arie was a Farmer in Pella, Marion County, Iowa, USA. He has Ancestral File Number LWYS-WKX. Arie immigrated in 1856 at 12 years old with father and mother from Holland. See Souvenir History of Pella, page 97. He left Charlois with parents March 10, 1856. He became a citizen Feb. 5, 1870. Hendrikja Petenella "Henrietta" JELSMA and Arie Wilhelmus SCHARFF II were married on 16 December 1868 in Pella, Marion County, Iowa, USA.⁶

9. Hendrikja Petenella "Henrietta" JELSMA⁴ was born on 24 November 1851 in Pella, Marion County, Iowa, USA. She appeared in the census in 1860 in Marion County, Iowa, USA. She died on 24 February 1932 at the age of 80 in Oskaloosa, Mahaska County, Iowa, USA. Hendrikja was buried on 26 February 1932 in New Sharon, Mahaska County, Iowa, USA. Buried at Friends Cemetery on S Main Street of New Sharon. She was . She Name Sake Petenilla because parents wanted boy . BIO:Hendrikja was given the middle name of Petenella because her parents wanted a boy as their first child. She hated the name and would not use it. Her daughter Dena was given the middle name of Egbert after her grandfather. She too hated the name and refused to use it.

Biography from Gladys Meyers:
Henrietta was a beautiful seamstress and also knitter, could look at something an go home and make it. She was very neat about her appearance, hair, etc. When she was a young girl, since she was the oldest child. She would have to sit on the back of the planter and drop corn all day.

She did not go beyond first grade but she could read and write both English and Dutch. In later years, she lived with her son Ed. In those days older people had no income. In the summer she would spend a few weeks with her other children. Gladys says I can remember she was always busy doing something when she was at our house. When she was in her 70's she made each of her children a little foot stool.

	iii.	Theodora C. "Dora" SCHARFF⁴ was born on 18 March 1874 in Mahaska County, Iowa, USA. She was buried in 1958 in Stewart Cemetary, Oskaloosa, Mahaska Co, Iowa, USA. She died on 15 April 1958 at the age of 84 in Oskaloosa, Mahaska County, Iowa, USA. Theodora was living in Taintor, Mahaska County, Iowa, USA.
	iv.	Dena Egbert SCHARFF⁴ was born on 9 September 1876. She died on 8 July 1955 at the age of 78 in Ottumwa, Wapello County, Iowa, USA. She was buried on 10 July 1955 in Columbia Cemetery, Dudley, Wapello County, Iowa, USA. Dena Name Sake Egbert after grandfather .

He was buried in 1959 in Forest Cemetery, Oskaloosa, Mahaska County, Iowa, USA. Section: 56, Lot: 9 SW 1/4 1 Egbert died on 9 September 1959 at the age of 80 in Iowa, USA. He was living in University Park, Mahaska County, Iowa, USA. He nickname Ed .
	vi.	Helen Marie SCHARFF⁴ was born on 11 May 1882. She was buried in 1966 in Forest Cemetery, Oskaloosa, Mahaska County, Iowa, USA. She died on 13 August 1966 at the age of 84.
